Sign In and Out
Time sheets are by the front door your child must be signed in and out each day.
Family Vacations
No reductions in monthly fees are provided for family vacations as your child's space will be kept available for them. If your child does not require care for July and August (summer break from school), half-fees will be charged in order to secure your child's space in the dayhome come September.
Fee Payment
Fees are to be paid by the first day of each month. Fees may be split and paid on the 1st and the 15th of each month if prior arrangements are made.
There are additional fees for providing care beyond dayhome hours; please see below in "Pick-Up" for more detailed information.
N.S.F cheques are subject to a $50.00 charge. Upon receipt of an N.S.F cheque, parents will be required to pay their fee plus the charge in cash.
Receipts are issued on a yearly basis.
Withdrawal From Care
One month's written notice is required for withdrawal from care, if proper notice is not given you will be billed for the full month. The dayhome will also provide one month's notice if we determine that a child's care must be terminated.
The dayhome reserves the right to terminate care immediately if the child's on-going behaviour is dangerous to one or more children within the dayhome. Discussions with parents will occur prior to this happening, and an appropriate support person will be contacted.
If a child's care is terminated by the dayhome, then the remaining fees for the month will not be returned.
Pick-Up
Children may only be picked-up from care by their parents/guardians, or someone designated in writing by the parents/guardians. If an alternate person is picking up the child(ren), that person must provide picture ID. Under no circumstances will the child(ren) be released to another person without parental permission and photo ID.
I understand that occasions occur when parents are unable to pick up their child(ren) by 5:30pm. If this occurs there will be a $20.00 late charge applied per child. If the child(ren) have not been picked up by 6:00pm, and the parent is not able to be reached, the emergency contact will be notified to pick up the child(ren).
Medications and Medical Care
Medications must be provided to the dayhome in their original containers with the dosage labelled on the container. Parents must provide written authorization to the dayhome in order for medications to be administered. Medications will not be administered if permission is not on file or the medications are not in their original containers. Parents must provide a dosage syringe or cup along with the medication.
First aid will be administered by the caregiver for any accidents which occur while the child(ren) is in care. In the event of an accident which required emergency medical services, an ambulance will be called, and the parents/guardians notified. Parents are required to sign a release form allowing the dayhome to seek emergency medical care for their child(ren). it is the parents responsibility to pay for any medical care sought out for thier child(ren).
Meals and Snacks
Meals and snacks are prepared following the Canadian Food Guide with 2 food groups provided at each snack and all 4 food groups being provided at lunch. On occasion the children may have special treats such as cakes, cookies, etc. when we are celebrating a special event.
Parents are responsible for
Supplying the dayhome with infant formula and diapers if the child requires them. Please leave a full change of clothing for each child at the dayhome. When a child requires a change of clothes they are most comfortable in their own and I do not have any spare clothing to put them in. Please ensure that all supplies are labelled clearly with the child's name.
I provide many fun and educational toys, so please do not bring toys from home as they may become lost or broken. However, if a child has a special stuffy/blanket they require for comfort, or to nap with, please send it along. The stuffy/blanket will be kept separate until required that day. The dayhome is not responsible for any lost or broken toys that are brought by the child.
Discipline
Each child will be dealt with as an individual and at their level of comprehension.
Infants and young toddlers - Due to their level of development, only redirection is provided.
Older toddler and children - Redirection, natural consequences, time out*.
*Time out is used to allow the child to calm their bodies and collect themselves. Time outs are based on a minute per year of age.
Any child whose on-going behaviours continually threaten the safety and well-being of the other children or the property of the dayhome will be asked to leave. The child's care may be terminated at the discretion of the dayhome without refund.
**Parents are financially responsible for any damages incurred by their children due to inappropriate behaviour.
Absences
There will be no refunds or adjustments made to your child care fee for your time missed due to illness, holidays, or days off. A place has been reserved for each child that cannot be filled on a short-term basis.
Although I will make every attempt to be available each day, there will be occasions when another family member or I are ill and I am unable to provide service. You will be notified as soon as possible of any personal or family illness, funeral or emergency. It will be your responsibility to obtain substitute care on such occasions and to arrange payment to the substitute. A credit will be given for days I am unavailable.
Sick Children
Children are better off not attending the dayhome when they are sick and lethargic. Keeping them home so they can get the rest they require to get better is the best thing for them. If your child presents with any of the following symptoms, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Fever they must remain at home until they are symptom free for at least 24 hours. (Ex. Child vomits on Monday at 7:00pm, therefore they cannot return to dayhome until Tuesday at 7:00pm; as I am no longer open for the day the soonest they can return is Wednesday morning.)
PARENTS AGREE TO KEEP THEIR CHILD/CHILDREN AT HOME OR SEEK ALTERNATE CARE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
Fever (100°F/38.3°C or higher)
Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
Yellow/Green Mucous
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Head Lice
Unusual Rashes
Contagious Viruses (mumps, Chicken Pox, etc.)
Rapid or laboured breathing
Known or suspected communicable diseases
If a child is on antibiotics, they must remain at home for a full 48 hours after the initial does of antibiotic is given.
Remaining at the dayhome when symptoms are evident is at the discretion of the dayhome. If I feel your child is too sick to attend, you will be contacted to pick up your child. If the parents/guardians are not able to be reached, the emergency contact will be notified.
ULTIMATELY THE CARE OF THE CHILD IS THE PARENT'S RESPONSIBILITY
Parents will inform the dayhome within 24 hrs of a diagnosis of a serious illness or contagious disease of a communicable nature in the family. This is to protect my family and the other families who attend my dayhome. Failure to do so is grounds for immediate termination of care. Parents agree that a child will be symptom free, without the aid of symptom reducing medications such as Tylenol, for a full 24 hours prior to returning to the dayhome. I reserve the right to ask for a note from your family doctor, depending on the illness/disease.
